Limitation of Liability
I waive and release any and all claims for myself, and my heirs against Riffs and Rants, Steve Maher, Samantha Weston Maher, their heirs and employees (hereby referred to as Riffs & Rants) for any injuries or illnesses which may directly or indirectly result from participation in classes, lessons, workshops, events or performances. This disclaimer is valid in perpetuity from the date of registration.
Code of Conduct
I understand that Riffs and Rants has a code of conduct for students and their parents/guardians and a breach of this code will result in permanent suspension. The code encourages appropriate language, behaviour and attire. I understand that vulgar language, verbal and physical abuse, intimidation or manipulation of staff or tutors, by students or their parents/guardians will not be accepted and will result in immediate suspension of a student/s classes and in some cases may result in further action being taken.
Absences and Make-up Lessons
I understand that a make-up class or credit is not possible if a student is unable to attend class for whatever reason, unless absence is due to an extraordinary situation. I understand that Riffs & Rants may from time to time offer a make-up lesson for lessons that were missed due to school commitments, illness, injury or holiday, this is more likely if Riffs & Rants are informed before the planned absence. I understand that If the absence is because of a school commitment it is still my/our responsibility to inform Riffs & Rants, not the school. I understand that any make-up lessons are at the tutor’s discretion and any bullying or intimidation shown toward a tutor or staff member will not be tolerated. I understand that a substitute tutor may conduct lessons/workshops when the usual tutor is sick or unavailable and if a substitute is not available a credit will be given on the following term invoice. I understand that credits or make-up lessons are only possible if a student is fully financial.
Fees
I understand that all fees are due at the time of enrollment or a 10% late fee will be charged. I understand lessons commence when a student is fully financial unless a payment plan has been entered into. Payment plans must be requested in writing, must be paid by debit or credit card and incur additional fees per transaction.
Lesson Swapping
I understand that lesson swapping is allowed provided the tutor, via Riffs & Rants office, has been given at least one weeks notice. I understand it is my/our responsibility to negotiate the swap with the other student or their parent, and that Riffs & Rants will not intervene, negotiate on a student’s behalf or coerce students to swap under any circumstance. I understand that any undue pressure or unreasonable request made of another student will veto the swap. I understand that Riffs and Rants is unable to give out student names or timetable information to a third party.
Timetable or Tutor Change
I understand that term timetables are prepared between week 6 and 9 of term for the following term and I will submit requests for change to: tutor, program, timetable or instrument or cessation no later than the Friday of week 8. I understand that failure to notify Riffs & Rants by this date will incur an admin charge of $30 per change to cover the doing, undoing and redoing, multiple phone calls and database changes that each change entails.
Marketing Communications
I understand that Riffs & Rants, or their delegate, may from time to time photograph, video and/or make audio recordings of student work in lessons/workshops for marketing and archival purposes. In the event that a photographer, videographer or recording engineer comes to the student’s class/workshop or an event in which the student is performing or exhibiting, I hereby grant Riffs & Rants permission to use any student work, photographs, video and audio recordings in which the student appears for exhibition, auditing, marketing, communications, fundraising and/or archival purposes. I waive any right to inspect or approve the finished product, including written copy that may be created in connection therewith. I understanding that such documentation may be copyrighted by the photographer, videographer, recording engineer or by Riffs & Rants and that no charge or special compensation is or will be required for the student’s service/s.
